Economic Development National Excellence Award

The City of Ballarat has won an Economic Development Australia (EDA) 2016 National Award for Excellence for the Dowling Forest Equine and Racing Precinct Investment Initiative.

City of Ballarat's development of the Dowling Forest Master Plan has delivered an $8Million world class horse training facility at Ballarat's Dowling Forest Precinct, which has attracted renowned trainers such as Cumani Racing.

The award for the Strategic Thinking category was made in October at the National Economic Development Conference in Perth.

The City of Ballarat won an Economic Development Australia (EDA) National Award for Excellence in 2015, with its Ballarat Industry Participation Program (BIPP) taking home the Business/Industry Development Project Award.  In 2013, the City of Ballarat won the EDA Strategic Planning Award for the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ).

Ballarat to host 2017 National Economic Development Conference

Economic development professionals from around Australia and overseas will converge on Ballarat next year for the 2017 National Economic Development Conference.

The announcement of Ballarat as the 2017 host city was made at the 2016 Conference in the City of Swan, Perth, Western Australia, where more than 200 delegates gathered to network, discuss and collaborate on future economic development projects and programs.

Presented by Economic Development Australia, the three-day annual conference attracts economic development practitioners, representatives from all levels of government and various interested organisations.
