BWEZ Second Land Release

Construction of the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) civil infrastructure is now complete.  The Stage 1 subdivision works, undertaken by Pipecon, included an initial release of 36 hectares of industrial land, construction of roads, services (including gas, recycled water and NBN) and landscaping.  The project has been designed to support high-productivity freight vehicles.

Five sales have been executed.  The first land sale was completed in October 2015 with Broadbent Grain purchasing a site of 10.7 hectares for the construction of a $24 million export grain handling facility.  Land has also since been purchased by Agrimac, an advanced farming and agricultural equipment supplier, Kane Transport for a freight and shipping facility, Broo for a brewery and visitor centre and Athelegen, a manufacturer of medical and phsyiotherapy equipment.

Due to strong market demand, a second release of 55 hectares of land was announced in February 2017.

Background

Designed and constructed for industry to enhance business productivity, Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) is the region’s engine room for jobs and economic growth over the next 20 years.

BWEZ is a long term project to unlock land for industry and stimulate diverse business activity to deliver local jobs. BWEZ comprises 438 hectares of State owned 'greenfields' land adjacent to the Ballarat Airport and is a high quality, high-profile industrial and commercial precinct.

Land is available for sale now and has been designed specifically for manufacturing, construction and freight and logistics businesses in mind.  Parcels range from 1.2ha to 30ha.  BWEZ is being sub-divided, serviced and released in stages according to market demand, with the ultimate development expected to take more than 20 years and provide thousands of jobs.

Strategically located near Ballarat’s future residential growth area with direct road, rail and air connections to the rest of Victoria and Australia, BWEZ offers a unique opportunity for businesses to grow in a strategic regional location, capitalise on Ballarat’s strong growth, and access exceptional corporate and lifestyle benefits of a thriving regional city.
